Nancy Underwood Pollard
Managing Director

Nancy is active in the animal rescue community, serving as the Founder and Managing Director of August Dog Rescue and a member of the executive committee of the upcoming HSUS Spotlight Humane Dallas event.  To support her rescue efforts, Nancy works as a trusts and estates attorney.  She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and law degree from Southern Methodist University.  In addition to her work in animal rescue, Nancy also serves on the board of Hope International, a Texas-based non-profit organization which facilitates international adoptions and provides humanitarian aid to the orphans left behind and is a member of the Junior League of Austin.  A Dallas native, Nancy recently relocated to Austin where she lives with her husband, Mark, and four rescue dogs: Neo, Hunter, Davey and Tallulah.  Nancy hopes to expand August Dog Rescue’s work from the DFW area to Austin and throughout Texas.

Kristina Bowman
Secretary

Kristina Bowman makes her living as a photographer, but her passion is animal advocacy, education & rescue. She is very active in the community and serves on many committees including the HSUS Genesis Awards and Paws Cause as well as a Vice President on the Board of the Texas Horse Park. She is also a HSUS animal rescue volunteer. Her family includes her partner of 18 years, Liz, 3 rescue dogs, Gustav, Shadow & Ziegen, 2 rescue cats, Kitty & Friedrich, and 1 rescue horse, Moose…and, of course, a steady stream of foster animals.

Sarah Davis
Development Director

Sarah serves as the Director of Development for August Dog Rescue. Sarah received her undergraduate degree from Davidson College and her law degree from Washington & Lee. She is an attorney at Beirne, Maynard & Parsons, L.L.P. in Dallas, where she focuses her practice on commercial litigation and securities law. Sarah is in the process of completing emergency response training courses through FEMA and HSUS, which she hopes will enable her to rescue many innocent animals from inhumane cruelty in the future. Sarah also has a special place in her heart for the orphans of the world, who she endeavors to help by serving on the board of Hope International, an international adoption agency.

Lisa Barnes
Treasurer

Lisa Barnes is an active volunteer in the animal rescue community.  She currently serves as August Dog Rescue’s Treasurer and has 3 rescue dogs of her own: Max, Simon & Jake.  Lisa has a retail boutique, Kacky & Carl, in the heart of Dallas’ Uptown area.  A couple of her former foster dogs have even played the role of “store” dog before finding their forever home.

Kate Watts
Foster and Adoption Director

Kate currently serves as the Foster and Adoption Director for August Dog Rescue.  An active volunteer and organizer in the animal rescue community, Kate, in addition to her dog care business, Wag Dog Services, dedicates almost 100% of each day to dogs (and for this reason, Kate never has a bad day!).  Kate received her Bachelor’s degree from Centenary College of Louisiana and is the president of the DFW Centenary College Alumni Association.  She has one rescue dog of her own, Wentworth Miller Watts.

Catharine Flagg
Marketing and Public Relations Director

Catharine is a full-time animal rescuer in addition to her “real” job as a public relations professional.  As co-founder of Jackson & Flagg Public Relations, Flagg specializes in media relations, marketing and special events.  She enjoys using her talents to gain media exposure for animals and shelters in need.  She is a member of the executive committee of the upcoming HSUS Spotlight Humane Dallas event and is in the process of completing the training process to become a certified HSUS DART team member.  In addition to her animal work, Catharine serves on the boards of Young Texans Against Cancer and UTD Center for BrainHealth Think Ahead Group.  She is also involved in the Junior League of Dallas and Young Friends of the Ronald McDonald House.
